Switzerland - Thun 🇨ðŸ‡
On the recommendation from a Swiss local that we met while we were walking in Interlaken, we decided to spend a day in his home town of Thun (pronounced toon). Thun is about a 30 minute drive from Interlaken and is located on the north side of Lake Thun. The drive was beautiful along the west side of the lake and we did the east side of the lake on the way back.
Thun is gorgeous city with views around every corner. We tried to capture some of the best spots while walking around the Old Town. The historic center of Thun is scenically located along the Aare river, with cobblestone streets, preserved old buildings, and cheerful public squares.
While walking across the many beautiful covered wooden bridges we noticed a spot that the surfers were taking advantage of the waves. Just like California? Maybe not but it was very entertaining watching them give it a try.
After finding an almost hidden stairway, called Kirchtreppe, we made our way up to the city church and Thun Castle. The views from inside the Thun Castle were impressive and some of the best that the city afforded.
Thank you to our new Swiss friend for recommending Thun. It was a great day!
